It provides detailed information regarding the major factors influencing the growth of the market. This report also tracks and analyzes competitive developments of the key players in terms of market developments, product portfolios, and financials.Acute Renal Failure Market: Industry Size, Share, Growth, Forecasts.
Pinion is a small circular gear used in different applications. It is usually the smaller gear in the gear drive train. It is used to drive the rack in rack and pinion arrangement. Pinion gear is available in the market in different shapes of teeth such as spur, bevel, crown, spiral bevel, helical, and worm gear.
Demand for pinion gear is on the rise due to the increase in production of the automotive industry as it is required in various primary mechanisms such as steering gear mechanism, power transmission system, and differential. Surge in demand for four-wheeler vehicles which require more pinion gears as compared to two-wheeler vehicles and technologically-advanced systems such as transfer box, quadrasteer, tendem axles, etc. is a key factor estimated to boost the automotive pinion gear market.
Based on shape, pinion gears can be classified into spur gear, bevel gear, spiral bevel gear, helical gear, and worm gears. Spur gears are of simple type used in series for large gear reductions. The teeth on spur gears are straight and parallel. Bevel gears are used to change the direction of motion of the shaft and the teeth of bevel gear can be straight, spiral, or hypoid. Spiral bevel gears are bevel gears with helical teeth. Bevel pinion gears are generally used in differential where the motion is transferred between two vertically intersecting shafts. Helical gears provide smooth engagement and its teeth are not parallel to the axis of rotation but are curved in shape. Worm gears are an arrangement of worm and worm wheel; the combination is called worm screw. They are generally used to reduce speed and transmit high torque.
Based on application, pinion gears can be divided in terms of its usage in gear power trains, continuously variable transmission, differential, coupling, and steering mechanisms. In gear power trains, it is the smallest gear which drives the other gears in the assembly directly or indirectly. In continuously variable transmission, pinion gear is placed as planetary gear in sun and planet gear arrangement which is driven by the principal gear. In differential, pinion gear is used as the driving gear. Coupling is a devise used to connect two shafts at their ends to transmit motion without any slippage. In rack and pinion steering mechanism, it is used to move the rack which is responsible for the movement of tie rods.
Pinion gear can also be categorized on the basis of manufacturing process adopted. Major processes used are forming and machining, stamping, extrusion, and cutting. Forming and machining includes casting and then machining of the cast to provide finishing. Extrusion is used to form teeth on long rods, it is then cut into the required lengths. Stamping sheet metal is used to manufacture large quantity of gears in short duration. It is further shaved to provide finishing to the product. Stamping is used to manufacture small gears only. Cutting is also a major and expensive method used to manufacture gears by using different cutters.
Based on the strength requirement, pinion gear is manufactured with different elements such as low carbon, medium carbon, high carbon steel cast iron, alloy steel, hardened steel, and bronze.
Based on vehicle type, the automotive pinion gear market can be categorized into passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles. Passenger vehicles are small-sized vehicles such as sedan, hatchbacks, and multi-utility vehicles. Commercial vehicles are those used for commercial purposes and include light-weight commercial vehicles and heavy commercial vehicles.
Based on geography, the automotive pinion gear market has a high potential to grow in Asia Pacific, North America, Europe, and the Rest of the World. Asia Pacific and North America are anticipated to project significant growth in the automotive pinion gear market due to the high production of automobiles in these regions. Rise of the automotive pinion gear market in this case is directly proportional to the number of vehicles produced as the pinion gear is an integral part of vehicles used in various systems.
Key manufacturers of the pinion gear market across the globe are Arrow Gear Company, B & R Machines & Gear Corp., C-flex bearing Co. Inc., Cobat Inc., Central Corp., Circle gears & Machines Co., Comln Tech, DieQua Corp., and Amtech International etc..
